What is scan tool or diagnostic tool

It was very simple like ABC to know what they called scan tool or diagnostic tool when many people don’t figure it out so I like to tell. While many cars have check engine light or MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) or SES (Service Engine Soon) light in their instrument cluster to notice you when car ECU has detected a problem with the various system it controls.

Let me tell you, many cars nowadays have many sensors that monitor the various cars system. When check engine comes out that means something has wrong with your car, maybe you notice the problem immediately or not, soon or later you will know when you notice strange something with your car. This trouble faults will be detects and store by car ECU (Engine Control Unit).

When this occur you can’t know exactly what the problem with you car that until you find some type of tool that you will used or what your mechanic will used to find out what is the major problem with your car. This type of tool is called car scan tool or diagnostic tool or we can call it code reader, code scanner or diagnostic tool. This tool is the same tool that manufacturer or mechanic used to detected car problem.
